The story of how the Wrenn factory messed up and put the Ludlow Castle name plate on a loco bearing the Cardiff Castle running numbers, that’s on the cab-side and smoke box. MG in his book The Story to Wrenn from Binns Road to Basildon and Beyond Part 2 talks briefly about the error and shares that the factory tried to recall the erroneously named models but was only partially successful and that some did slip past the recall. MG does not state how many exist although I have seen numbers of Ludlow Castle locos stated as between 25 and 50'
