Wrenn Alan Titcombe's Special Locos

Alan Titcombe says 'here are a few snaps of my original Ludlow Castle. The story of how the Wrenn factory messed up and put the Ludlow Castle name plate on a loco bearing the Cardiff Castle running numbers, that’s on the cab-side and smoke box. MG in his book The Story to Wrenn from Binns Road to Basildon and Beyond Part 2 talks briefly about the error and shares that the factory tried to recall the erroneously named models but was only partially successful and that some did slip past the recall. MG does not state how many exist although I have seen numbers of Ludlow Castle locos stated as between 25 and 50'

 
 
 
     
     
 

The all black no smoke deflector Westward Ho. Here are a few pics of the loco, originally owned by George Wrenn, displayed in his office and then sold by SAS as a part of the Wrenn Family Collection auction.
